Kimbrell’s “Wargasm” Exhibit Opens To Major Crowd…

Last night were were happy to host TSG Art Director Jonathon Kimbrell’s latest art show, “Wargasm: A Tribute to Andy Warhol” to a packed house.

As ‘April 1st’ is usually reserved for pranks and shenanigans, this year proved to be another story, as the latest art exhibit to grace the walls of The Soda Gallery had people filing in and out of our doors all evening. Couple the art show with the Bishop Arts District’s third go at a “Wine Walk”, where patrons can go from shop to shop sampling wines, the streets were full of curious people and Oak Cliff natives. Typically, if our shop if full of people for several hours on end during a new art event, we find it to be quite the success. Last night’s opening was no different!

Below are a few sample images of Kimbrell’s homage to pop art icon, Andy Warhol:

If you missed out on the opening last night, no worries. You’ll have an opportunity to catch the encore opening during the 2nd Annual Oak Cliff Art Crawl, April 10-11, 2010, where The Soda Gallery is one of the selected stops on the route, and Kimbrell will be unveiling even more work during his month long celebration of the work of Andy Warhol. Our business hours during Art Crawl is (Sat.) 11a-11p and (Sun.) 11a-8p.

In addition to new pieces being unveiled, Kimbrell will also be offering a limited edition “Wargasm” show poster, available exclusively during the Art Crawl. Each poster will be hand printed, signed and numbered (edition of 25) and will cost only $25 per poster. Half the proceeds from the poster sales will go back into the funding for next years’ Oak Cliff Art Crawl. Poster measures 12.5″ x 19″ and is suitable for framing.
