The much anticipated return of “50/50″, the art show that won’t break your bank or wallets, opens Saturday, Nov. 15th @ 7pm only at The Soda Gallery. You guys demanded it, and we heard you loud and clear!

For those who may not be familiar with the concept of “50/50″, this was an art show we did back in February of this year. The idea was to showcase the kind of work being created by artists from all over the country, as well as illustrate the notion that great, original works of art didn’t have to cost a fortune. We took over 50 artists, had them create collectively over 50 works of art, and sold each work of art for only $50.00. It was such a big success that we practically ran out of work in the first week of the opening. It also gave us the idea to to expand the amount of artists and the amount of work, while keeping the price for each work of art the same.

We’re excited to open the “50/50 II” this coming Nov. 15th, just in time for the holidays. We can’t think of a better gift than an original work of art for that person in your life who practically has everything else…well, except for maybe a soda pop or two. So, art and soda fans alike, please mark your calendars for Nov. 15th - 7pm for the opening of “50/50 II”.

Ps…in case anyone was wondering, all artwork will not be for sale prior to 7pm Nov. 15th, to give everyone a chance to purchase work. Frst come, first served.

Hello everyone.

Our apologies for being AWOL lately. In all honesty, it’s been really quiet in the Bishop Arts District the last few weeks, or months, depending on your perspective. Even though the Texas State Fair is underway, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your time down in the B.A.D.!

We have a few things to let you know about going on in and around the B.A.D. this month. First up, come out to the 7th Original Urban Street Bazaar on Saturday, October 11th, from 10a-8p. There will be live entertainment and music, handmade modern art and crafts, handbags, clothing, stuff for your pets, your home, your baby and more. Next up, we have our next art exhibition, “All In A Day’s Work”, featuring the super hero paintings of TSG’s own Jonathon Kimbrell, Robb Conover and many more. The show opens Saturday, October 18th at 7pm, and runs through November 9th. This show coincides with the newest addition to the TSG store, Boomstick Comics (like the ‘Army Of Darkness’ reference?!!) TSG is happy to be sharing it’s gallery space to bring Oak Cliff and Dallas the premiere spot for new and vintage comics, toys, t-shirts and rare and one-of-a-kind collectibles. We’ll be a tour de force, purveyors of all things ‘pop’! Look for Boomstick Comics to be open for business really soon! For more info, check them out online at boomstickcomics.com. In case you were wondering where the Dallas Poetry Slam ended up, you’re in luck, because we happen to know where their new home is. You can find DPS at Cafe Madrid (408 N. Bishop Ave. Ste 108) every Friday Night from 9-11p. Compete for cash and prizes, or simply step up to the open mic and display your wares. I’m sure most of you are well aware of the current economic situation right now. We certainly are. The Bishop Arts District seems to have been impacted substantially with the curren’crisis’, but rest assured, TSG isn’t going anywhere. Business has been slow, and it’s been a challenge bringing in new and old soda favorites (rising gas prices don’t help either), but hang in there with us. Times will get better. We’re doing our best to push on through the economic downturn.
