Upcoming Events at TSG - July 2009…

The summer is a-buzz with events going on at TSG this month. We recently hosted another Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School mini drawing session with the lovely Rose Darling as the super heroine Ms. Marvel during ‘1st Thursday’ in the Bishop Arts District. We had a packed house all evening, and was happy to see such a large turnout for the event. Two new art shows are on the books this month, as we continue to celebrate our ‘Summer of Pinups’ with “Between A Real Blonde And A Fake: The Pinups Of Erik Jones and Jonathon Kimbrell”, as well as TSG’s ‘unofficial’ 3rd Anniversary Erotic Art Show and Party, opening for ONE NITE ONLY on Friday, July 24th from 10pm-2am. On occasion, we like to ’spice things up’ a bit with our more daring friends and fans of TSG, so this party is mostly for them and us. If you would like to attend this ‘by invite only event’ pleases RSVP to thesodagallery@gmail.com, so we can get an idea of how many people will be in attendance. “Between A Real Blonde And A Fake” opens on Saturday, July 25th from 7-10pm, and will be on exhibit through August 2009.

June 1st Thursday at The Soda Gallery…

Hey soda and art lovers.

Looks as though Thursday, June 4th (1st Thursday, coincidentally) is going to be action-packed with pinup girls galore! As you’ve probably read already, June 4th is the opening night of the ‘Return of the Bombshell’ photo show, and we will also be hosting another free mini art session with the people at Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School. This month’s lovely model (I think) will be the lovely Black Mariah!

This will be a good opportunity to get in some practice sketching for their regular 1st Saturday session. Plus, who doesn’t like checking out hot pinup girls??? We are trying to get things arranged to have a swell classic car parked out front of the gallery for even more eye candy, which we are working on as we speak. I guess you’ll know for sure if we got one when you stop by on the evening of the 4th.

In other news…

TSG would like to take the opportunity to say congrats to its own, Jonathon Kimbrell, who recently launched his own clothing line called “Factory Trash Clothing”, clothes inspired by the likes of artist Andy Warhol, pop art, music, tattoos and of course, girls. Two designs are now available through Factory Trash’s parent company, Junkytees. Each design is available as a limited edition print, and in hand-printed with TLC. Check ‘em out, and keep your eyes peeled for future designs soon. Who knows, you may even see some exclusive Factory Trash designs available at The Soda Gallery!
